Simple Techniques to Help Send Baby off to Dreamland

close-up portrait of a beautiful sleeping baby on whiteFor parents of a newborn bundle of joy (or even one that’s a few months old, for that matter) getting your baby to sleep good so that you can get your own much-needed rest is often a challenge.  What can you do when you’ve tried everything you know, and baby is still wide awake when the rest of the world’s sleeping?  We have a few techniques you’ll find helpful.

  • First, don’t make eye contact. Why, you may ask?  Eye contact actually stimulates your baby, particularly if you look him or her in the eyes for too long, or in a way that’s animated.  When putting your little one to sleep or calming him/her upon waking during the night, avert your eyes away from baby’s eyes.
  • Considering a calming bath. Just as adults enjoy a nice soak in a warm tub to relax, babies do too.  Leave the toys out of the tub – the last thing you want to do is get your baby excited.  Use a soft washcloth to gently stroke your baby in warm water.  So soothing!
  • Don’t think keeping your baby awake longer will make her sleep better through the night. Actually, it’s best to put baby to bed around 6:30 or 7:00 during the first year of life, and a baby who’s overtired will have a harder time getting to sleep. Ironically, early to bed often results in a good night’s sleep – and a later wake time in the morning.
  • Think cotton or other natural fibers for sleeping. Babies can be sensitive to synthetics, which could leave skin irritated and you guessed it – hinder sleep.  Comfort counts!
  • A cool environment induces sleep. Adults have a tough time sleeping when the room is too warm, and babies are no different.  Keep the temperature between 65 and 70 degrees, and you’ll not only help baby sleep better but possibly prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) as well according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Forget the nightlight. Most parents use nightlights to help baby feel secure, but this isn’t the best idea.  Instead, use blackout shades or dark curtains during the day when baby is taking a nap, and in the evenings when it’s time to go to sleep for the night.  Upon your baby waking, open the shades or curtains up so that your baby correlates light with awake time, and dark with sleep time.

These are just a few suggestions that will hopefully help you and your baby get the sleep you need.  There are countless things you can do as a parent to help your little one sleep better; when one idea or suggestion from a friend or family member doesn’t work, keep trying others!  You’ll soon discover what works for your baby.

Key Benefits of Locating the ‘Perfect’ Nanny Through an Agency

Los Angeles Nanny Placement AgencyIf you’re a parent in the Los Angeles area who has considered hiring a nanny to help care for your children, no doubt you have reservations.  You want a nanny you can trust explicitly, someone who is a good fit for your family, an individual with excellent references, experience, and who will put the welfare of your children first.  Sure, you can post a search engine optimization ad online indicating your need, flip through the Yellow Pages, or find an individual online advertising his or her services – but there are some very important benefits in hiring a nanny through an agency!

Enjoy peace of mind knowing your nanny has been thoroughly screened, and is highly trained.  Most agencies perform background checks to ensure the nannies they staff do not have criminal records or other issues in their histories that could make them potentially dangerous for clients and their children.  Physical training is also vital, as not everyone has the skill to care for children in terms of providing first aid when necessary, planning activities, meals, or communicating at a child’s level.  In addition, the development of children and their safety are other critical areas parents are concerned about.

You’re not sure exactly what (or who) you’re looking for in a nanny.  When it’s your first time to secure the services of a nanny, it’s hard to know what you want.  Sure, you know someone who’s going to be involved in your children’s lives should be good with kids and that you’ve got to hire help, but that’s about the extent of it.  In a perfect world, you’d love a real-life version of Mary Poppins (and who wouldn’t?) but families are all unique – and who would be the ideal fit for your family’s needs?  One more benefit of working with a nanny agency is that you get personalized attention, as a staff member works to get to know you and your family in order to determine the most important attributes in a nanny for the unique needs of your family.

You’d feel better with a back-up plan.  What happens when the nanny just doesn’t work out?  If you hired her on your own, you’re stuck until you find someone else – and who knows how long that could take!  When you work through an agency, you have a “safety  net” of sorts.  Should a nanny not be the right fit for your needs, the agency will find another nanny who may be more suitable.  While you may have to get a temporary sitter for a day or two, you don’t have to start all over again.

Ultimately, you want your child or children to be in caring, capable hands whether it’s bath time, meal time, or time for play or reading.  When a happy, well-adjusted child is your top priority, consider hiring a nanny through Sleeping Angels Co., a professional nanny agency in Los Angeles you can trust to go beyond your expectations.

Whether the child is the in the first 6 months or the first 6 years of his/her life, it is quite important that you take good care of your child; feed him on time, bathe him, make sure that he is in clean clothes, wash his clothes, get him vaccinated and so much more needs to be done. Not only that, as that the child grows, you have to teach him how to walk, how to talk, then read and write, basic mannerisms and such other valuable lessons of life.

But this becomes difficult with the present hectic lifestyle which is why parents often look for nannies or babysitters who can take up the responsibilities and make it easier for the parents to create a perfect balance in life. However, you cannot hire just any odd person to be a nanny for your child. To ensure that you get the best nanny in California for your child, consider the following factors:

  • Exactly what do you want out of the nanny: Before you hire a nanny, you ought to consider the reasons for which you are willing to hire one. If you just want a person to feed, bathe and carry out other similar duties for your child, then your search could be short one. However, if you are looking for someone who can share other important parenting responsibilities, then you have to look for a matured, sincere person. Also, the person must suit your child’s nature and energy levels as well.
  • Research thoroughly: When looking for a nanny in California, you ought to do a thorough research on the various agencies that offer nanny services or for individuals as well. You have to verify whether these services are reliable and trustworthy or not and that the person that you are going to hire would do good to your child. You should also check for past criminal records as well as their involvement in other offenses. A nanny should be well qualified, well educated and well mannered as these would reflect on your child’s growth and personality.
  • Advertise: When looking for a nanny, it would be the best that you advertise your needs on the right platform. Choose popular related websites, newspaper or you could even advertise on the social media like Instagram. When you get a good number of responses, you can analyze the applications, take an interview and choose the person who would suit your child the best.
  • Do a trial: Once you have selected one nanny, you need to check out for a week or a month if the person practically is able to meet the requirements and carries out the tasks, dutifully and responsibly. Once you see that the person is able to do justice to the job, you can hire him/her for the long run.

Tips & Techniques to Finding a Reputable Nanny Agency

Childcare Services from Sleeping Angels Co

Choosing a nanny can be a difficult decision to take. After all, it’s not always easy to find some who would be able to take good care of your kids, and is trustworthy enough. However, a good nanny can always help you with your kids, and do a lot more.

But with so many things to take care of, ranging from verifying the details to doing background checks to ensuring that they are experienced enough, you may need to resort to using a nanny agency. It can look after the complete process for you, and find you some of the best nannies to choose from based on your needs.

However, while choosing a nanny agency, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

The experience counts

Just as with almost everything else, it’s always better to find a nanny agency that boasts of having a considerable amount experience under its belt and is a well established and reputed one. However, at the same time, you may also want to note that a more established nanny agency doesn’t mean that it will always turn out to be a better one. After all, all such agencies are new at one point.

However, the point we are trying to make is that while going with newer agencies, you may simply consider doing more research, just to make sure there’s nothing to be worried about while using them.

Registration fee

This is something that depends from one agency to another. Some nanny agencies charge a registration fee to their customers for allowing them to register and take a look at the nannies they have to offer. Some others, on the hand, allow their potential customers to do this free of cost.

Obviously, the ones that don’t charge a registration fee should be preferred, as you have nothing to lose if you don’t find a perfect fit from the available options.

Replacement policy

This too is something that differs significantly between different agencies. Some that are more confident in the quality of nannies they have to offer would usually offer to replace them for free within a specific time period. However, most of them usually charge replacement charges if you wish to replace the nanny chosen by you after a given period.

However, you always need to keep in mind that using the replacement policy is one of the last things you would like to think of. In other words, your focus should always be finding the right nanny in the first place itself.

How stringent is the screening process?

Ideally, the more stringent the screening and selection process of the nannies, the better the quality and safety offered. However, there is a set of things every nanny agency is supposed to follow at the very least. These things are:

  • Interviewing the nanny
  • Checking their criminal record
  • Verification of the details provided by them
  • Checking if the certification provided by them is genuine and valid
  • Confirming that they are a citizen of the country

You may also want to add a few more things to this list based on your needs.

A final word

The above given things should really help you find a nanny agency that is capable enough of meeting your expectations, as well as ensuring a considerably high level of safety.
